Year 5 & 6 · PSHE · Enrichment Workshop

The money lesson your pupils will never forget

An interactive, gamified workshop.Through play, your Year 5 and 6 pupils will discover how to save, spend, earn, and avoid scams, building lifelong money skills along the way.Financial education forms part of the national curriculum, but many schools lack the time or specialist provision to deliver it in a practical, engaging way. We bring a specialist-led, fully resourced session directly to your classroom so your pupils get the lesson that will set them up for a lifetime. We are based in Swansea but love taking this workshop on the road, delivering engaging money lessons to schools across the UK.

What Happens In The Room

Time to budget

Pupils receive pretend money and face real decisions. Should they spend, save or invest? Suddenly maths has consequences and they are hooked.

Choices have consequences

Spend too much? You are short at the end of the month. Save wisely? Watch your total grow. The gameplay mirrors real life by design.

Spot the scam

A live scenario drops in mid-session. Pupils have to identify the trick before they lose their savings. The ones who fall for it learn the most.

Classroom Challenge

The Million Pound Challenge

A simple 20-minute activity to teach compound growth.Present your pupils with a choice:
Option A: Receive £1,000 every day for 30 days
Option B: Receive £1 on Day 1 that doubles every day for 30 days
Ask for a show of hands. Most pupils choose Option A, it sounds like far more. Then work through the maths together.

DayOption AOption B
1£1,000£1
5£5,000£16
10£10,000£512
15£15,000£16,384
20£20,000£524,288
30£30,000£536,870,912

Option B wins by over half a billion pounds.Discussion points:
- Why did Option A seem like the obvious choice?
- What does this teach us about compound growth?
- How does this apply to savings accounts? To debt?
The real-world lesson
Starting to save early, even tiny amounts, often leads to far better outcomes than saving larger amounts later. Compound growth needs time to work. The earlier you start, the longer it has.
